Raphaël Amahl Khouri ist ein queerer transgender Arabisch-Deutscher Dokumentartheater-Dramatiker und Theatermacher, der in Berlin und Kairo lebt. Khouri ist Autor mehrerer Stücke wie She He Me (Kosmos Theater, Wien 2019), ICH BRAUCHE MEINE RUHE (Festival Politik im Freien Theater, München 2018) and No Matter Where I Go (Beirut 2014). Khouri ist außerdem Mitglied der Climate Change Theater Action und das Stück Oh, How We Loved Our Tuna! wurde im Rahmen der Initiative international gelesen. Khouri war ausgewählter Dramatiker der Arcola Global Queer Plays (London 2018) und der LarkhtINK international play reading series (New York, 2015). Khouri war Mitglied des Lincoln Center Director’s Lab (New York, 2013) und erhielt das Rosenthal Emerging Voices Stipendium für Poesie des PEN USA (Los Angeles, 2007). Seine Werke sind in zahlreichen U.S. Journalen veröffentlicht, wie auch in Global Queer Plays (Oberon Books 2018), Skrivena Ljubav (Samizdat 2018) und International Perspectives on Where Performances Leads Queer anthology (Palgrave 2016). Khouris Werk ist des Weiteren in der International Queer Drama Anthology erschienen, die der Neofelis Verlag 2020 publizierte, sowie im Metheun Drama Book of Trans Plays.

Ein Centerpiece Text von Khouri ist Teil von DARK ROOM revisited von Jchj v. Dussel (Regie: Paul Spittler), die digitale Theaterinszenierung wurde zum Heidelberger Stückemarkt 2022 eingeladen. 


Raphaël Amahl Khouri is a Jordanian documentary playwright and theatremaker living between Berlin and Cairo. Khouri is the author of several plays, including the first-ever transgender Arab play, She He Me (staged at Kosmos Theatre, Vienna 2019), also recently performed online as part of NYC’s Criminal Queerness Festival. ICH BRAUCHE MEINE RUHE (I Need My Rest) (Politik im Freien Theater Festival, Munich 2018) and No Matter Where I Go (Beirut 2014). Khouri is also the author of No Matter Where I Go, the first queer Arab play staged at AUB in 2014.

Khouri is also a part of the Climate Change Theater Action and their play Oh, How We Loved Our Tuna! was read internationally as part of the initiative.

Khouri was a selected playwright at the Arcola Global Queer Plays (London 2018) and the Lark hotINK international play reading series (NYC, 2015). Khouri was a member of the Lincoln Center Director’s Lab (NYC, 2013) and was the recipient of a Rosenthal Emerging Voices fellowship for poetry from PEN USA (Los Angeles, 2007). His work has been published in several US journals, as well as Global Queer Plays (Oberon Books 2018), Skrivena Ljubav (Samizdat 2018) and International Perspectives on Where Performance Leads Queer anthology (Palgrave, 2016). They’ve also been commissioned to write new work for Outburst Queer Arts Festival in Belfast, featuring there in 2019 and 2020. Khouri’s work will also appear in the upcoming International Queer Drama Anthology published by Neofelis Verlag and the Methuen Anthology of Trans plays.
