Akasha Daley

Akasha Daley ist eine britische Theatermacherin und Performerin. Sie startete ihre Karriere als langjähriges Mitglied der „National Youth Theatre of Great Britain“. Sie ist in ihrem letzten Jahr des Studiums des Physical Theatre an der Folkwang Universität der Künste. Sie widmet sich der Geschichtserzählung in theatralischen Räumen, während sie die Kapazität des Köpers Emotionen zu übermitteln erforscht. Im Zuge der Black Lives Matter Bewegung fand Akasha ihre Passion für Spoken-Word Poesie und benutzt diese, um Gefühle des Verlustes, Wut und Empowerment für POC auszudrücken. 2021 performte sie ihre Arbeit in Deutschland während internationaler Theaterfestivals wie das „Full Spin“ oder des Ringloskschuppens „Hundertpro Festival“. Zurzeit liegt ihr Fokus auf der Erforschung der Effekte, die Diskurse über psychische Gesundheit auf Schwarze Männer* haben, mit dem Medium einer Physical Theatre Performance.

Akasha Daley is a British theatre maker and performer. She started her career as a long-standing member of the “National Youth Theatre of Great Britain”. Already in her final year studying Physical Theatre at Folkwang Universität der Künste. She is devoted to storytelling in theatrical spaces, while exploring the body’s capacity to convey emotions. In the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement Akasha found a passion for spoken-word poetry, using this to express feelings of loss, anger and empowerment for POC’s. In 2021 she performed her works in west Germany at international theatre festivals such as “Full Spin” or Ringlokschuppen’s “Hundertpro Festival”. At the Moment her focus is on researching the effects mental health discourses have on Black men*, in the medium of a Physical Theatre performance.
